While this unit is a little more expensive then a conventionally sized unit that we were also considering, we opted for this unit because we have a small family and it would take us several days to fill up and run a full size dishwasher. With the dish drawer, we can usually run a load each night.

Customer Reviews Amazingly quiet Date: 2010-01-01 | Rating: 4 We purchased this dishwasher a couple of weeks ago from Pacific Sales in southern California (we got a floor model so got a great deal, though it did have a few dents in the back - can't see them once it's installed). It replaced a 17-year-old dishwasher, which I didn't think was especially noisy, but we definitely heard it running. This unit is incredibly quiet. I really cannot hear it running even standing right next to it, except when it empties, when you can hear the water running. Even then it's quieter than the old unit. They have a 41 dB figure for noise, which didn't mean much to me, but it's really almost unnoticeable. It seems to do a very nice job on the dishes. We typically rinse our dishes so haven't tested its limits on cleaning. It was a tiny bit taller than the old unit, so we had to cut a little of the cabinet hole at the top to fit it. It's also a little narrower, and the installation didn't really put in any cushion on the sides, so it can move a bit sideways, which for some reason causes the door to catch on a little bumper on the inside, making it a little tougher to close. We'll need to put in some kind of cushioning on the side to force it to stay put.

I had purchased another set from a different manufacture and the handles came all hollowed out to where they were difficult to wash after using them and also would bend under a full load. Well these have solid handles and don't bend under a full load, much better quality at half the price of the other ones. in reference to the can opener Date: 2009-03-08 | Rating: 4 The KitchenAid can opener is actually the best can opener I have used/owned. If you mutilated your hand, then it's probably your technique. No can opener has a mind of its own. The peeler is also good. I also have the KitchenAid pizza cutter and ice cream scoop, which are great as well. The pizza cutter cuts amazingly well. The other tools - spatula, basting spoon, tongs - are ginormous compared to my small hands so it's difficult to handle the weight. The smaller tools, however, are invaluable. There's a nice selection of tools for the kitchen in here and the only thing I'm not happy with is that after using one of the fish slice tools, I noticed that it got burned after cooking with a normal heat in a pan. I would've thought that they would've used a better plastic that could take more heat before it got damaged. Not worth alot but good for a starter kitchen. The measuring cups and spoons seem to be accurate, the spoons and spatulas, etc, well, they seem to spoon and spatulate okay, but watch out for the can opener. 3 cans opened: 3 cans mutilated and dangerous. I would not recommend the set due to this sub par tool.
